Korengal Valley

I watched this movie last night and it is one of the better movies I have seen in a long time.  It is a documentary that starts in the summer of 2007, and it follows the deployment of a platoon of US soldiers in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley for 15 months. This valley has been labeled one of the most dangerous places in the world.  The troops that are stationed there come under enemy fire at least every day and sometimes up to 10 times a day. The Taliban fight from caves and huts so they are a tough enemy to find. It was very interesting to see how the platoon developed as time went along. I give anyone in the service credit because you go through a lot. Before this movie I always thought that they just bombed anywhere in Afghanistan that they thought the enemy was hiding. Not true. The army actually goes out on patrols to make sure that they can keep civilian casualties to a minimum.
This movie really put the war in Afgahinstan in a new perspective for me. I know it didnt cover the whole war or even get into the politics of it but it did a great job at showing how hard we are working over there.

Your Man

I decided that I like this song. Thought I would share. Just got home after a very busy night of work. Wake up and do it again in 6 hours. I already know I am going to be a zombie tomorrow because I will be so tired. If I don't get my 9-10 hours of sleep, I will be tired in the morning no matter what. If I got 3 hours of sleep and someone woke me up and said that they just bought me a new car (not a hint Britta) I would still be out of it. Anyways I will probably itune this song and enjoy it when I need a little pick me up.

Conan

The new show is so good! I got off work at an early time today and decided that I should watch it. (I had recorded it because I go to bed early) It was very funny! I am now watching Great Migrations an natgeo.

I also just got back from running Jess and Mark to Target. I saw the new Call of Duty: Black Ops game for the Wii and really really wanted to buy it, but I resisted. I will wait another pay check or two.... or... three.

My Dad comes up this weekend and I'm really looking forward to hanging out with him. Last time he came up, we went out downtown and a concert.

What a good day!

Britta and I had a good day hanging out. We watched the new Karate Kid tonight and it was pretty good. Britta made Chicken Alfredo for dinner along with Caesar salad. It was delicious! Perfect night to spend in with my beautiful wife. She's the best. We are hoping that my work schedule becomes a little easier to work around, so that way we can make time to go visit our families or go to her cabin and have a little mini vacation.

Thoughts

The job is going good. It is nice be at something new.  This job has more of a serious feel to it then my last job. My schedule of working opposite of Britta is a little different but that means that the days that we do see each other, we just make sure to make it a good day and enjoy being with each other. Next week I actually have two day shift back to back which will be nice and then a day off right after that. The scheduling at work should be changing soon, to accommodate more day shifts for people. It will be awesome to get on a schedule to see Britta more.

I am also excited because my mom is coming up to Moorhead this weekend to visit Jess and I. She is staying at my place and I'm excited for her to see our place now that we have it all decorated. I do work this weekend so I won't be able to see her as much as I'd like but it will leave time for her to see jess too.

Also the other day I forgot my phone when I left the house and I felt useless. It is similar to the feeling of not having my wallet on me. Some may say that we have become too dependent on technology. I say, yes we have, and it is a great thing, as long has you balance it out with actually interacting with people. I even noticed that I have gotten to the point of I think I feel my phone vibrate even when I don’t have it on me.

chilean miners rescue

I watched the first miner get rescued tonight. It is amazing what people did to get the job done. I hope the rest are saved over the next few hours. I can't imagine what it could have been like but I know you sure would have to be brave.

Tagging Master

I have taken it upon myself to go through my wife's wedding albums on facebook and tag everyone. I was expecting it to take a lot longer but it isn't so bad. It's Friday today and the first day of October, and I have the day off so I get to see Britta tonight. I have been getting home late from work and staying up watching TV episodes on hulu.com. Clay and Julies wedding is next weekend. I have to say that I am pretty excited to be in it. It will be a fun vacation to go to Brainerd, MN  in the fall.

Also, since I usually have the days off because I work night, I have discovered how cheesy daytime TV is. The Dr's is on everyday and it is slightly embarrassing to leave it on. The only reason it is on sometimes is because all the rest of our 5 channels are advertising different cooking machines and weight machines.

Well right now I'm waiting for Britta to get back from school so I can see her and just be with her.

Starting

I will be starting a new job tomorrow. I am really looking forward to getting back to work and mainly get a little cash flow started again. I haven't been on a set schedule for awhile now so it will be a little weird getting up early and having something to do with my day. Tonight a group of us is going downtown for 35 cent wings. Curtis is in town and it was nice to see him again, I hadn't seen him since the wedding. Britta is at night class tonight, she didn't want to go because she had had such a big day. That is all for now.

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Today, Sunday was a good day.  My sister Jess and I hung out and played Wii. It was good to see her. We tried to play a full 20 rounds of Mario Party but we couldn't do it because we ran out of time. I am looking forward to starting my new job but will miss all my free time just a little bit. It will be very nice on the other hand to finally get a paycheck to support my lifestyle, which mainly involves supporting Britta's lifestyle. My wife Britta and I actually just had a talk the other night about how I just have a very simple style when it comes to life and that she could spruce it up a bit. Actually the conversation was me claiming that I had a simple style and Britta was making fun of me for claiming that I had a simple style.

Late...

I have been staying up way too late...lately. Tonight I was an ultra nerd overlord. That would entail me cleaning out my computers memory so it would run faster.

I also updated my version of fire fox (http://tiny.cc/aako5) which I use now instead of Internet explorer. I did my research (trust me, my wife will tell you once I get hooked on something pointless, I can't stop learning about it) on the web browser and found that it surpasses ie (internet explore) capabilities in many different categories, including security.

I also wish I could do cooler things on this blog, but I don't know how. I like the idea of keeping it simple just so I can come on here quick and write a little something whenever I feel that I should contribute something to you.

Another thing that just came to mind. When I write on here I want it to be a cool journal type thing for me to look back at and be like " oh yeah, I remember when I didn't have any fun hobbies or money so I blogged"  only kidding. (britta)  but back to the journal idea.  I also want this to be my area where I address friends. It's not like my blog is going to be a super popular site like (http://www.physicsgames.net/).....nerdy I know. But it's my life. Only kidding. Sort of.  anyways, moving on. Like I said, not expecting everyone to look at my new blog but I will try to post some of my favorite things on here to share. Well I guess that's it for my first official post. I know all of you will be rushing to play one of the many games from one of my favorite game sites, well not really but you know.
